The millwright reports to the site supervisor or designate and works closely with the site staff to effectively fulfill his/her responsibilities.
Responsibilities
-Responsible for the quality of worked performed
-Responsible for participating in training sessions as required
-Responsible for completing assigned projects in an efficient, timely and safe manner
-Responsible for participating in the safety program
-Responsible for proper care and maintenance of the building, property and assets
-Responsible for understanding and participating in the quality management system and its objectives
-Responsible for identifying and reporting non-conformances
Duties
-Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements
-May be required to make detailed sketches for pumps, pump boxes, and any other equipment installation, as required
-Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts
-Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
-Assist equipment start-up and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation
-Repair and lubricate machines and equipment
-Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools
-Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures
Requirements
-Must be an Interprovincial Red Seal or have a Jman Millwright or valid apprenticeship ticket from a recognized provincial training authority
-Must possess valid SCOT, First Aid (additional certificates may be required depending on project requirements)
-Will be required to complete a D&A test
-Must hold a valid class 5 drivers license
-Ability to work alone or in a team
-Physical strength, stamina and the use of proper techniques required to manage heavy materials and stand for long periods
