Description

The position of Estimator is a skilled role, in which the Estimator provides the overall on-site administrative and technical management for a project, while ensuring the total constructive efforts are in accordance with the plans and specifications. The estimator is responsible for compiling estimates of how much it will cost to provide a client or potential client with services. This will be done this by working out approximately how much a project is likely to cost and create budgets accordingly. The job involves assessing material, labour and equipment required and analyzing different quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Download and print drawings and specifications
Maintain status update on drawings to support leading edge projects
Update the Quotation summary to reflect active vs. completed jobs
Perform area calculations
Complete material take-offs
Consult with clients to discuss and formulate estimates
Review data to determine material and labour requirements and prepare an itemized list
Order bid bonds, performance bonds, tender deposits, etc.


Qualifications

College diploma or post-graduate certificate in industry relevant program
oI.e. Construction Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology


Skills / Knowledge

Ability to read blueprints, plans and specifications
Proficiency in MS Office package
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast pace environment
Excellent time management skills and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced team environment
Professional, motivated to learn and a career-minded individual
