This position is responsible for assisting Production Technicians in routine animal care and general farm tasks to ensure the welfare/well-
being of the animals. This position is responsible for the organization and execution of daily tasks while directing technicians to accomplish essential tasks in the Breeding and Gestation Department.
Key functions of this job are as follows:
Ensure all bio-security guidelines are followed
Effectively manage the day to day operations of 2300+ sows and meet reproduction targets within the breeding and gestation department
Maintain accurate record keeping and animal flow within the barn
Effective communication with teammates and supervisors to achieve goals
Create a teamwork environment by effectively leading a team to accomplish daily department work requirements and farm goals
Exhibit mastery of Standard Operating Procedures within their scope of responsibility as well as a working knowledge of other department processes
Ability to effectively train new employees on the most current Standard Operating Procedures
Responsible for coordinating activities between departments and sites to achieve overall site and complex objectives
Must prioritize tasks and develop daily and weekly routines to utilize personnel within the department to maintain high standards within the given hours of the work day
This position is expected to lead overall farm activities in the absence of the Manager
This role will also have personnel reports and will be responsible for all people management tasks, including but not limited to: recruitment, training/development and performance management
