Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the following are Essential Functions of the Job:
- interacts with the children and encourages their involvement in activities
- provides a warm, safe and caring environment that is kept orderly, clean and appealing
- implements daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to Play and Exploration
- provides overall supervision
- clean for all mealtime/snack time activities and related record keeping
- keeps a portfolio of each child's progress, including samples of artwork, writing, etc.
- maintains good communication with parents with the use of daily sheets, notes, or verbally.
- ensure confidentiality of privileged information
- maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements
- provides activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the developmental levels of the children
- participate in team planning sessions with all staff to ensure well-coordinated and effective delivery of services to meet WRDC goals and objectives
- include materials and experiences that are culturally appropriate and represent diversity
- model developmentally appropriate activities and positive behavior management techniques through daily contact with children and early childhood staff in the centre
- demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible
- assist with other duties as required

Education and Experience Required:
- First Aid/CPR
-preference given to Early Childhood Certificate or Diploma

 - Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate
 - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
 - Food Safe Certificate
Early Childhood Education Skills
 - Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music
 - Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
 - Assess the developmental level of children
 - Knowledge of licensing regulations
Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills
 - Prepare craft materials and assist children to use them
 - Observe children and report on observations to supervisor
 - Guide children in development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
 - Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
 - Conduct and monitor activity programs designed for young children
 - Arrange transition periods such as lunch and rest for children
Security and Safety
 - Criminal record check (abstract)
 - Child abuse registry check
