This position is intended for candidates with an interest in working in the field of environment, and who are intending to pursue appropriate education when the term is complete.
Reporting to the Environment Supervisor, this position is responsible for the following duties:
Responsibilities include:
Assists the Environment Technicians as required, including but not limited to;
Performing daily inspections & monitoring
Groundwater sampling
Surface water sampling
Effluent sampling
High volume air sampler operation
Potable water monitoring
Sample preparation and shipping
Shipping material for recycling
Equipment maintenance and calibration
Data entry
Waste management (including hazardous materials)
May assist Radiation Protection Technicians as required
Complies with all AREVA health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures.
Efforts/Demands of the Position:
* Use of snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and boats must pass certification courses on site
* Outdoor work in all weather conditions
Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
Must be a resident of the Athabasca Basin
Must be pursuing or intend to pursue post-secondary education required for the position of Environment Technician at McClean Lake upon completion of this work term.
Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Able to work in a strong team environment and be able to demonstrate initiative
Show attention to detail

McClean Lake, 7 days in/7 days out
