The City of Swift Current is seeking a progressive, innovative and achievement oriented staff member to fill a permanent position. Shift work, call back, overtime and standby including nights, weekends and holidays is required.
This position reports to the Superintendent of the Water Treatment Plant and is responsible for operation of the plant, all remote booster stations and reservoirs. Operations include all phases of water production, treatment, storage, instrumentation and control operations, equipment maintenance, housekeeping as well as maintaining appropriate office and production records.
The new hire will be expected to reach certain benchmarks in a timely fashion.
Basic Requirements:
. Grade 12 Diploma;
. Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as we are a Youth Certified Employer;
. Must successfully complete Office of Water Programs Sacramento State Water Treatment 1 and 2 within 1 year of hire;
. Must be progressively working towards a Saskatchewan OCB Class IV Certification in Water Treatment and Distribution;
. Must be certified as a Class 1 Water Treatment Plant Operator within 18 months of hire;
. Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence;
. Computer training and experience;
. Mechanical aptitude required to perform maintenance of Water Treatment Plant and remote station buildings and equipment; and
Desirable Requirements:
. Preference given to candidates who possess Class 2 Water Treatment Plant Operator certification;
. Successful completion of related Post-Secondary training, or a water related technology course at a recognized Institute of Technology;
. Knowledge and experience in the operation of pumps, valves, motors, hydraulics, instrumentation, etc.; and
. Grade 12 Chemistry.
Salary range in accordance with City of Swift Current/CUPE Local 183 Collective Agreement. Pay rates based on Level of Certification:
