The Yorkton Tribal Council is seeking 1 individual for the position of Youth Outreach Worker in the Health Department.
Duties: Supply information & collect data to prepare reports, develop models, develop surveys, develop practical screening tools/resources for front line workers & local care givers. Provide suicide awareness information. Educate agencies about youth suicide in communities. Supply skills/training to respond to at-risk suicide individuals, Lead discussions/conduct meetings/workshops/ seminars relating to grief, suicide prevention, intervention, postvention & addictions. Promote wellness & healthy lifestyles. Motivate community involvement/develop groups, circles in each First Nation. Create an Aboriginal network that supports the knowledge & contributes to increasing awareness & understanding of suicide.
Qualifications: A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in managing counseling/addictions programs Knowledge & Understanding of First Nations language/culture/traditions /social issues. Have a Diploma or Certificate specializing in counseling & addictions or an equivalent combination of experience & training. Be willing to travel & must possess a valid drivers license & maintain throughout employment as well as have a reliable vehicle. Work irregular hours to complete special requests/projects. Manage many people/priorities/projects may have to respond to emergency/crisis situations. Requires excellent organizational/time management
Aware of all YTC programming along with relevant legislation/policies & procedures
