Description

Carry The Kettle First Nation is seeking candidates to serve on the Board of the Nakoda Development Corporation commencing August 2018.
The Chief and Council requires qualified candidates who are well versed in First Nation issues,  economic development opportunities and providing strategic development of the vision that propels the direction to the First Nations entities.
Board Composition
Nakoda Board of Directors consists of 5 Directors with various business backgrounds.
The current vacancies are for three (3) individuals, one band member and two non band members.

The following Experience and Skills required:
A diploma and/or certificate in Business Administration, Land management, Finance or related field. Equivalencies will be considered.
An effective understanding of Nakoda culture and spirituality, and experience working with First Nations communities is preferred.
Experience with strategic planning and priority setting;
Experience with business development and community economic development;
Experience and knowledge of Board governance policies, including where possible Professional Director Designations;
Familiarity with different models of business and partnership development;
Experience and knowledge of financial management and financial reporting;
Experience in negotiation and partnership development;
Knowledge of First Nation governance;
Knowledge of the legal and legislative framework for First Nation land management; and,
Familiarity with government funding mechanisms and partnership strategies.

Band Council will select successful applicants. Only those selected will be contacted by August 2nd.  Once selected, Board Members will be required to fill out a form for Conflict of Interest and Non-Disclosure Declaration.
