Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant and associated appurtenances. As the Plant Operator, your will perform skilled work to control the treatment processes along with detailed sampling, monitoring and analysis of water, wastewater and processing streams.
This position will be 8 hours per day, 5 days per week; however, the candidate must also be willing to be on call and complete weekend reads as required. This schedule may be subject to change based on the needs of the client.This position will be located in Esterhazy, SK, at K3.
Job Duties
Analyze test results and instrument readings on a daily basis
Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content
Collect waste, test and analyze results
Monitor and Inspect plant equipment and systems operations on a regular basis to detect equipment malfunctions and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
Complete and maintain plant operation logs and reports
Communicate any unsafe conditions or wear and/or damage of equipment to supervisor
Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
General Labour tasks may also be assigned including but not limited to Housekeeping, shoveling, spotting, snow removal, etc.
The successful candidate will have;
Water Treatment and Water Distribution Certificate (Level II or III)
Preference will be given to individuals with experience and/or education in the water/wastewater field and boiler operation
Valid Class 5 drivers license
Valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Effective self-managing, good problem-solving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic
Ability to think critically and make independent decisions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Pre-employment medical exam and drug test will be required.
