Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, of Infection Prevention and Control and also receives clinical direction from the Infection Control Officer. The IPAC Construction Specialist will consult on matters related to the prevention, surveillance and control of infections during construction, renovation and maintenance in the Saskatchewan Health Authority (Saskatoon). In collaboration with the IPAC team, the Construction Specialist will be an active member of each project's multidisciplinary team to ensure that appropriate infection prevention and control measures are initiated and adhered to throughout any new construction/renovation/maintenance of healthcare facilities. The construction specialist will be the primary contact for all projects and will communicate key information back to the site ICP's to ensure continuity and understanding of the current state of each project. The incumbent will participate in quality improvement and research activities with the IP&C team and with departments or groups within the Saskatchewan Health Authority (Saskatoon).
Required Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree in a medical and clinical healthcare field in nursing, medicine, physiotherapy or occupational therapy required
Successful completion of an Infection Prevention and Control Canada (IPAC-Canada) approved Infection Control course
Certification in Infection Control (CIC or equivalent) required
Successful completion of a CSA Infection Control during construction, renovation and maintenance course
Experience
Minimum two years' experience in Infection Prevention Control
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of epidemiologic principles, statistics, microbiology, infectious diseases, patient/resident care
