Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Language Coordinator, you will assist immigrants in their transition to a new culture and settlement in Canada by helping them develop English Language skills and community knowledge that will enhance their full participation in Canadian society.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop course content with lessons following Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
Provide instruction in the English as a Subsequent Language adult program
Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment, and feedback to students using PBLA
Maintain records of achievement, attendance, and other student related information and report such information as required
Practice excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with employer and educational requirements
Work cooperatively in a team environment as well as independently
Follow regulations and policies adopted by the YWCA
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Effective instructional skills competence in instructing conversational and academic oral English language skills
Ability to work with individuals with special learning needs

Computer literate including working knowledge of software and internet programs pertaining to teaching ESL
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in a field related to English language acquisition, plus CERTESL certificate or industry-recognized equivalent preferred
Experience teaching ESL to adults is an asset
PBLA training and completion of CLB Boot Camp are also assets
Required Licenses and/or certificates:
Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
Must be willing to complete both PBLA training and CLB boot camp
