Description

We are recruiting for the primary position of:
SECURITY OFFICER:The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of assigned areas to ensure the personal safety of staff, visitors, and property. This position will demonstrate knowledge of all the locations and various departments, buildings, access routes and admitting requirements to ensure the building and equipment is secured and all security rules and regulations are enforced.

Education and Experience:
Must be at least nineteen (19) years of age.
Grade twelve (12) education is preferred.
Formal training and/or work experience in the field of security services is preferred.
An acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Physical ability to handle confrontational/violent/abusive/intoxicated situations.
Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

If you meet eligible criteria you may also be pre-qualified to a secondary position of Special Event Security to maximize your hours:

SPECIAL EVENTS SECURITY:
Special Event Security is responsible for maintaining security and safety and ensures that the building and equipment are secure and access is enforced throughout the buildings. This is accomplished through knowledge of the locations of various departments, buildings, access routes, and admitting requirements. This role is distinguished from the classification of a police officer as there is no authorization to arrest offenders or write citations; however there is a requirement to report suspicious activities to the police for follow-up and action.
