Description

The School of Indigenous Social Work at the First Nations University of Canada invites applications for a probationary tenure-track position Assistant/Associate Professor position to be located at either the Regina, Saskatoon or Prince Albert Campus. The School of Indigenous Social Work is seeking candidates who have a strong First Nations knowledge base and experience in the areas of philosophy, spirituality, treaties, self-government, residential schools and healing. Areas of particular interest include field education practice and supervision, child welfare, health and mental health, social work practice with individuals, families and communities. The successful candidate will teach at the BISW and MISW levels.

Duties and Qualifications:
The School of Indigenous Social Work provides a Certificate of Indigenous Social Work (CISW), Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work (BISW) and a Master of Indigenous Social Work (MISW) through the cooperation of the Faculty of Social Work, University of Regina and the First Nations University of Canada. The School of Indigenous Social Work program is accredited through the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE). The SISW provides the academic and cultural training for social work students to work in First Nations and non-First Nations communities.
Applicants with a PhD in Social Work are preferred; applicants who are ABD (Social Work) will be considered. For applicants with a PhD in a related field, a background degree of BISW/BSW or MISW/MSW is preferred. An MISW/MSW with five years post MISW/MSW social work experience will be considered.
Experience in research, publication and grant writing is required along with an established teaching record and experience. Experience working, teaching, or living in a First Nations environment and ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.
