Description

The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for the position of Foreman in the Streets and Roadways Department of the Infrastructure and Operations Division. This is a permanent full-time position. Hours of work may vary, based on operational requirements.

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Streets and Roadways, the Foreman is responsible for the supervision of all streets and roadway activities such as construction, maintenance, repair of streets, lanes, bridges (pedestrian and vehicular), and sidewalks.  Additional responsibilities include the supervision and assignment of duties to all on-site workers, enforcement of all required safety and work regulation policies and the operation of street sweepers, motor graders, excavators, wheel loaders and other related equipment used in the maintenance of roads, streets and lanes.

Basic Requirements:
    Successful completion of Grade 12;
    5 years experience in municipal & public works operations;
    Must possess and maintain a valid Class 3A Saskatchewan Motor Vehicle Operators License;
    Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as we are a Youth Certified Employer;
    Experience operating related construction and maintenance equipment;
    Experience in a supervisory role;
    Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
    Ability to perform general checks and maintenance on equipment;
    Excellent communication skills and decision making abilities;
    Effective team building & leadership skills;
    Traffic Accommodation;
    Ground Disturbance;
    OH&S Level 1 & 2; and
    Flag Person.

Desirable Requirements:
    H2S Training;
    Confined Space;
    Training/Certification in Rodent Control.
