Job Description for Temporary Part Time Sexual Assault Worker:

The Sexual Assault Worker is responsible for counselling and follow up work with victims and families of victims of sexual assault.  Follow up work will involve provision of information and support to victims of sexual assault with respect to psychological, medical and legal issues.  

The Sexual Assault Worker is also responsible for promotion, public education and community involvement specifically with regard to sexual assault.

-Knowledge of sexual assault dynamics and working knowledge of treatment modalities      
-Strong interviewing skills
-Ability to make quick and accurate assessments in crisis situations

-Strong prioritization skills
-Ability to accurately gather information and generate accurate and concise reports
-Ability to cope with stress, both personally and in clients
-Ability to work independently
-Maturity and sensitivity
-Strong understanding of social, cultural, economic and other factors affecting   people in our community

Education/Experience:
-Completed post-secondary education: Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). Preference will be given to individuals with two or more years of related experience in the human services field.  
-Direct sexual assault counselling experience and/or crisis intervention counselling would be assets highly considered
-A valid Saskatchewan driver's license is required
-A police security check is required

The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission has granted our organization an exemption order for the position of Sexual Assault Worker with the Prince Albert Mobile Crisis Unit to be designated female.
