Great Plains College is searching for an energetic, proactive instructor for our Carpentry program at the Rosetown Program Centre. Throughout this seventeen-week program, the Carpentry Instructor is responsible for providing entry level skills training to students.
The Instructor has a range of duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
Organize and deliver instruction;
Provide learner guidance and referrals;
Work cooperatively in an interdependent team environment;
Manage his/her classroom to ensure an optimum learning environment for students;
Maintain records of student achievement, attendance, or other information as required, and report such information according to established procedures;
Continually assess the skills and monitor the learning and behaviors of students enrolled in the program and provide information to these students regarding the appropriateness and/or adequacy of their performance;
Plan, coordinate and/or teach and evaluate activities, which are aimed at developing students employability.
Education and Experience
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities listed previously, the Carpentry Instructor requires:
Journeyman status in the Carpentry trade
Two (2) or more years of recent experience in the trade
Candidates with experience and/or training in adult education are preferred.
