Description

The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for managing client financial accounts which includes the maintenance of their fiscal records, the preparation of financial reports including monitoring monthly bookkeeping records. This position involves supervision over general accounting and bookkeeping, external auditing and reports directly to the Partners or audit senior. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Job Duties
Oversee the maintenance of books of account for individual clients (including but not limited to coding and posting invoices, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash) and reviewing the work of bookkeepers and other staff.
Preparation of GST and PST returns for the clients.
Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets, and assist with preparation for any audits or independent reviews with support from the Senior Accountants.
Preparation of Notice to Reader Financial Statements and Review Financial Statements.
Provide assistance with the preparation of Audit Financial Statements.
Responsible for the preparation of T2 corporate tax returns; T1 personal tax returns; T3 trust returns; and Charity returns.
Preparation of T4's, T5's, T3's, T4A's, T5018's, NR4's and other slips as needed.
Assist in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for complex financial and accounting issues.
Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and impacts for the client.
Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities.  
Is responsible for tax compliance with Federal and Provincial legislation.
Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.

Requirements
Minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
2+ years of experience in financial management.
Experience in accounting an asset.
