Description

Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Looking for a new job opportunity to change your life for the better? Wanting a meaningful career in which you can improve someones quality of life as well as your own?  If yes, then explore a rewarding career as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop Corp.
At the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop Corp. the goal is to foster both caring and trusting relationships between participants and yourself, while in a positive working environment.
The Direct Support Professional works to provide direct support on many levels to the needs of participants with intellectual disabilities in several areas. These include person-centered planning, life skills development, education, recreation, and health and well-being. The overall goal is to learn the wants, needs, and desires of each individual, and to incorporate these into the daily activities and program planning. Music therapy, artistic therapy, recreation, work scenarios, volunteerism, cooking, gardening, personal hygiene, and light housekeeping all lend to help participants learn necessary skills to apply to daily living.
The Direct Support Professional will aid and work with participants at a state-of-the-art facility, during a Monday to Friday work week from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. The position includes competitive wages and full benefits, including a 4% matching pension from the employer. Training is included and no experience is necessary. A background in employment at a care home, school, nursing home, or day care setting would be an asset. A clean criminal record with a vulnerable persons check is required.
