Description

The Pahkisimon Nuyeah Library System, headquartered in Air Ronge, Saskatchewan, is seeking applications for its Library Consultant position.

The successful candidate will provide consultation and training to the member libraries of the Pahkisimon Nuyeah Library System, including training local staff in library procedures, training local boards in trusteeship, and assisting local libraries with automated library systems and internet resources.  

The Library Consultant has primary responsibility to consult on automated services with member libraries in the System, and is responsible for training member library and headquarters staff in automated library systems, as well as responsible for e-library services (including database and website maintenance) and other library-related software.  This person will assist in the coordination of public library services to member libraries in the System, select and purchase materials, participate in the delivery of specific programs, and liaise with the Saskatchewan Information and Library Services Consortium on cataloguing materials.  

This position requires extensive travel throughout Northern Saskatchewan.  A valid drivers license is essential.

A minimum of a Library Technician Diploma from an accredited college is required, with an MLIS preferred; two or more years experience with libraries, with a background in program administration; knowledge of and experience with automated library systems; knowledge of webpage design and social networking; solid computer knowledge; experience working for or on a governance board.  Fluency in Cree or Dene is an asset but not a requirement.
