The individual is directly responsible to the Executive Director. This position is responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll using Accpac/Sage Windowing System as well as correspondence and other administrative duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Input records from timecards to generate payroll, submit remittance and reports for pension, RRSP, union dues collected, CSB submissions and accuracy and remittance of source deductions for Receiver General
Prepare and assure accuracy of monthly Financial Statements; establish and maintain internal controls to meet accounting standards, ensure accurate year end stock inventory and calculations.
Verify purchase invoices to purchase order, code and input data to expense accounts and/or asset accounts into accounts payable and generate cheques for vendors. At month end generate reports and outstanding payable list
Assist in preparation for year end auditors.
Human Resource Management: WCB claims, accrued vacation and sick time, increment dates, Labour Standards, Collective Agreement, maintain Union Seniority List and other Personnel Policy requirements. Advertise for recruitment/hiring under the direction of the Executive Director. Work cooperatively with the Director of Programs and Services with the orientation of new employees.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, track updates and reporting procedures for Government funding and financial reporting.
Responsible for entries and maintenance of the General Ledger.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Preference will be given to an individual with an Accounting Degree or recognized Office Administration Course. At least 3 years with Office Administration Experience with Accounting Practices, Office Administration; and Human Resource Management is required. Experience with Accpac/Sage 300 and EasyPay Payroll system is mandatory.
