Job Title:  Youth and Family Counsellor

Employment Status:  Full Time

Salary:  $45,000 - 55,000 depending on experience and qualifications
                          (plus Benefits)

Job Purpose
To provide counselling for youth and families who are seeking assistance for any host of mental health or life-related hardship they may be going through. A counsellor will be relied upon to provide a service that focuses around the Centers stated mission and values.

The Swift Current Community Youth Initiative is driven by a passion to address the needs of youth today. We strive to make youth related resources, programs and counselling readily available and easily accessible.

VISION
The goal of the SCCYI is to provide an environment and build relationships with youth that would see them finding the help that they need in a safe and fun environment.

Job Description
Counselling can be 1 on 1 or in a group setting
Assist Program director in After-school program 1-2 days per week
Work with youth not only in a counselling setting but in a relational setting as well
Work 1 Drop-in night per month on either a Friday or Saturday night
Facilitates/co-facilitates support groups that relate to issues that youth are facing (ie. anxiety, bullying, cutting, self-esteem, etc.)
Be a SCCYI liaison to administer seminars (ex. Bullying) to schools/groups in community
Work alongside other community organizations/professionals/schools to provide counselling services to youth and families in need

Knowledge and Skills
Willing to work in a team based environment
Able to speak to large crowds and/or small classrooms
Maintain case files and reports
Ability to respond to crisis situations

Other Requirements
Must complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
