Description

The Employment Counsellor is part of a team ensuring that programming at the Global Gathering Place contributes to the successful integration of clients to life in Saskatoon.  The Employment Counsellor takes on a leadership role to deliver employment services and provide assistance and information to GGPs job seeking clients and colleagues on all aspects of employment searching and career planning.

Duties and Responsibilities
Provide individual employment counselling and facilitate employment workshops.
Assess each clients needs and develop a service plan that demonstrates the coordination of appropriate interventions to support his/her employment goals including alternative career options.
Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing rsums, and preparing for job interviews.
Create and maintain positive working relationships with the business community.
Collect labour market information including job openings, entry and skill requirements, and other occupational information.

Education
A post-secondary education is required.
A combination of education and experience working in an Employment services setting or Human Resources department will be considered.
Knowledge and Experience
Excellent oral and written language skills with an eye for detail.
Strong proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential with the ability to easily learn new software programs.
Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills with the ability to work within a team environment to generate results for job seeker success.
Knowledge of the local community for resources and referral sources, etc.
Experience working with the business community in Saskatoon.

Working Conditions
This role may require some irregular work hours in order to accommodate potential weekend and evening work.
