Meat Cutter (NOC: 6331)

Permanent Full Time (40 hours per week), Flexibility to work a variety of schedules is required)
Wage:
$13.65 per hour

Roles & responsibilities:
Ensure that all meat items are in stock, fresh, healthful, safely prepared, properly wrapped, priced and displayed attractively.
Follow department procedures for preparing, storing, rotating, and stocking of product.
Break down beef, chicken, lamb, and poultry products into standard retail cuts, remove bones from meat, wrap and package prepared meats.
Prepare specialty merchandise including sausages, ready-to-cook products, and cured meats.
Prepare, package, weigh, and price meat products for sale.
Ensure all equipment is clean, well maintained and fully operational.
Perform other tasks as required by management to meet business needs.
Providing exceptional customer service.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Completion of High School;
1-2 years butcher/knife experience required;
Previous experience in retail/wholesale butchery environment;
Commitment to safety and quality processes;
Knowledge of Meat department operations and skills;
Attention to detail and work well with others;
Excellent hand-eye coordination and decision-making skills;
Good communication skills and ability to read and write in English;
Customer Service oriented and able to make good decisions;
Experience working as a meat cutter in a retail environment an asset;
Experience using a variety of meat cutting equipment an asset;
Experience working in a grocery store an asset;
