Description

Avena Foods is actively seeking a talented Quality Assurance Lab Technician. The initial Contract length for this Fulltime position will be for one year from start date.  There will be a strong possibility of a permanent position opportunity in 2019 for a successful individual.
Reporting directly to the Director Quality Assurance, your role will be to perform daily verifications and testing of our products to ensure that food safety and quality requirements are met. Positive and respectful attitude is a must for this team environment.  
Job Description (including but not limited to):
* Perform routine QA duties as per standard operating procedures
* Prepare samples for testing and perform Microbiological & Allergen testing of raw materials and finished products.
* Conduct Metal Detector verifications & Quality Control audits of finished goods.
* Conduct Chemical, physical & Organoleptic testing of finished oat products.
* Collect retention samples and perform shelf life testing on retention samples
* Conduct Pre-Operational inspections and environmental monitoring
* Implement and monitor HACCP and related systems Food Safety Management System (FSSC22000) and complete all daily, monthly, quarterly & yearly tasks on time.
* Perform operational document verification and follow up on quality & safety incidents
* Maintains accurate and comprehensive records that may be routinely audited
* Participate in internal or external audits when required.
* Report non-compliances, near misses, take corrective actions to assure compliance to all quality & food safety requirements on a daily basis
* Other duties as required to support Quality Assurance Department.
