Duties include (but not limited to):
Provide Social and emotional support to the designated students.
Provide individual and group counselling services to promote student wellness and retention.
Work with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health.
Assist Students to deal with issues associated with addictions and substance abuse; grieving; stress management; self-esteem; and learning.
Play a key role in student crisis management situations.
Assist students and potential students to problem-solve and identify life and career goals.
Refer individuals to appropriate community agencies
Interpret assessments of psychometric instruments.
Conduct workshops based on identified need.
Assist with student orientations Mental Health programming.
Maintain records of student related information and report such information as required.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Social Work or Bachelor of Education with Major in Psychology.
2-4 years counselling experience in educational or mental health is preferred.
Resource room experience will be considered an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Genuinely committed to helping children learn.
Experience in child play therapy is a definite asset.
Ability to speak Cree language would be an asset.
Ability to recognize individual learning styles and the characteristics of learners.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, etc.
