A) EDUCATION:
-Successful completion of recognized Dental Assisting course.
-Capable of performing calculations involving simple arithmetic procedures
-Continuing education: the dental assistant is responsible to maintain continued competence, theoretical knowledge and awareness of technological advancements through education programs, professional literature and group discussions
B) POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Performs any duties performed by Dental Assistant II as required to support the activities of the clinic
-Provides chairside assistance to professional staff in Pediatric clinics.
-Prepare and arrange instruments, equipment, and required materials for each treatment.
-Prepare patients for the services they are about to receive and instruct them on post-treatment and recommended oral hygiene.
-Perform intra-oral duties and assist the dentist throughout the procedures including handing him the instruments and keeping the patients mouth free of debris.
- Perform laboratory procedures as required (i.e. take dental impressions, pour models).
-Prepare dental materials: cement, amalgam, composite, impression materials, etc.
-Maintain the instruments and working areas in strict accordance with sterilization/disinfection guidelines.
-Maintain the dental equipment and operatory in good, clean condition at all times.
-Take dental radiographs and process them for the dentist as well as maintain the x-ray machinery.
