Fast Genetics is currently looking for a full-time Lab Technician for their Saskatoon flow cytometric cell sorting lab. This position will report to the Lab Manager.
This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions but is not limited to:
- Working effectively to meet sperm sorting production requirements,
- Demonstrating a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with company related matters,
- Responsible for technical procedures such as data entry and record keeping,
- Assisting in organizing the lab and ensuring good housekeeping and biosecurity protocols are met by all staff and visitors,
- Working on a flow sorter and troubleshooting issues/concerns,
- Analyzing and interpreting basic sperm motion and morphology characteristics.
The successful candidate would ideally possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- Flexible to work shiftwork including night shifts and potential weekend shifts,
- Flexible to attend training at other labs in Saskatchewan, and ability to travel internationally for training if required,
- Ability to work independently and as a team player,
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills with great attention to detail,
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment,
- Laboratory technology training or equivalent 2+ years of experience working in a laboratory,
- Knowledge of cell biology, flow cytometry and andrology would be considered an asset,
- Experience with Microsoft office,
- Shares in Fast Genetics core values.
