Description

We require a caring & compassionate individual to work with families experiencing challenges that may put them at risk of becoming involved in the child welfare system & are in need of support services. Using a family-centered, strengths-based assessment approach that focuses on the whole family, values family participation & experience, respects the family's culture and ethnicity, the Family Enhancement Worker will help families identify strengths, needs, & resources & develop a service/care plan that assists them in achieving & maintaining safety, permanency & well-being.  A variety of tools & techniques will be used to help individuals through life situations & to help them make positive changes in areas of concern including addictions, relationships, education & employment.

A sound knowledge of various therapeutic addiction counselling theories and practices is required, especially in the areas of clinical evaluation of alcohol & drug issues, treatment planning, counselling, education & prevention, documentation & professional & ethical standards.

Must have a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, coordinate & evaluate the delivery of awareness & educational workshops, activities & events to children, youth & families that promote healthy lifestyles & healthy family interactions.

Qualifications:
A BISW or successful completion of a certificate, diploma or degree program in the human services field & a minimum of 3 years' experience working with First Nations families & community.  The applicant must have a demonstrated knowledge in:

a) Assessment, care planning, counselling, referral, case management & monitoring
b) Implementing awareness & educational workshops, activities & events.
c) Working with families, children & youth, community groups, volunteers & agencies

An ability to speak and/or understand Cree is a definite asset.
