Working within a matrix management structure the Donor Search Coordinator is responsible for the analysis of Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) and Immunogenetics within the Saskatchewan Blood and Marrow Transplant Program (SBMTP). As the single BMT search analyst in Saskatchewan, the continued development of program standards is essential. The role also encompasses coordination of all aspects of related and unrelated donor search, procurement of unrelated donor blood products and the training of those involved. The Donor Search Coordinator is responsible for the development and ongoing management of all pertinent policies, procedures, and agreements.
The role also involves data management related to program referrals and BMT patient volumes. The incumbent is required to lead projects and participate in working groups applicable to his or her field of expertise. The Donor Search Coordinator is required to maintain patient/family/donor confidentiality as related to the ethical and procedural directives of local and international regulatory bodies. The incumbent works closely with the SBMTP team and acts as a resource for all communications related to donor search and product procurement.
The Coordinator Donor Search reports to the Provincial Manager Hematology as well as working closely with the Director of Hematology, Hematologists and Transplant Physicians.
