Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Inc. is the world's first successful zero-effluent-discharge market pulp mill that is a state-of-the-art, chlorine-free bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP) facility. Under the direction of the Finance Controller, the General Accountant is responsible for various accounting activities related to the maintenance of a complete & accurate general ledger.
Responsibilities:
-Perform critical monthend tasks
-Prepare weekly actual and monthly cash flow projections
-Intercompany transactions & balance confirmation and reconciliation
-Create invoices for & follow up on intercompany accounts receivable
-Create sales debit or credit memo
-Understand integrated system & work cooperatively with requisitioners, purchasing, receiving & stores staff
-Backup for Cost Accountant & Accounts Payable when required
-GST & Stats Canada services
-Assist with budget preparation
-Understand sales forecast
-Contribute to ensuring the integrity of data in the system
-Assist audit by providing documents, data collection, etc.
Qualifications:
-In depth understanding of & commitment to GAAP is required; IFRS preferred but not required
-Detail oriented with demonstrated analytical skills
-Self motivated with the ability to meet tight monthly deadlines with multiple priorities
-2-5 years progressive accounting experience (preference in manufacturing)
-Experience with a fully integrated accounting system (prefer SAP)
-Strong communication & interpersonal skills
-Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets
-A professional Accounting designation or degree is preferred
