Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Judicial Programs,  the Mediation Caseworker shall provide mediation and diversion services and provide back up to the Fine Option/Community Service Orders programs.

Duties:
Provide mediation service, including:
Provide information & direct mediation services to victims, offenders & others in conflict upon request
Provide the appropriate referrals to community supports & services as to assure the quality of the victim/offender participation
Provide reports, records, statistics, & other info as may be required by the program criteria
Provide mediation & community service order placements as necessary
Promote awareness/understanding of mediation diversion programs & restorative justice by preparing and delivering presentations/papers/ reports
Recruit, train & supervise volunteer victim surrogates and other volunteers

Provide Fine Option/Community Service Orders program support, including:
Provide intake, placement, follow up within the Fine Option program
Interview all persons referred to the local office
Locate appropriate job placements for these clients
Monitor those placements  the appropriateness of the placement agency
Develop and expand the list of suitable placement agencies
Ongoing monitoring of placement agencies to assure their suitability for, and satisfaction with, the program
Ensure that all billings and statistics are maintained accurately and promptly forwarded to the Provincial Office and to funders        
Provide such referrals to placement clients as appropriate

Develop & maintain effective working relationships with funders, staff, other agencies & community

As requested, participate in community committees, forums & special projects as well as act as a consultant on issues involving restorative justice & mediation services
