Description

As an Intermediate Accountant you will:

Monthly file preparation, supporting schedules and calculations, and journal entries
Analyze business unit performance against key performance indicators
Communicate with business unit managers to improve cost controls and the understanding of how costs flow through their business.
Partner and collaborate with operational teams throughout the organization to improve financial information for decision makers.
Revenue recognition and work in progress calculations
Analyze information and make recommendations for accounting estimates and allowances
Create and reconcile entries for both intercompany and consolidation eliminations
Take a proactive approach in evaluating processes and identify improvements in efficiencies
Responsible for period-end close procedures
Work to resolve ERP variances in costs, inventory, reports, and coding
Assist with preparing deliverables for external auditors
Prepare records for Stats Canada and various other Government bodies


What you need to be successful in this role:

Bachelors Degree with a major in Accounting and/or working towards a CPA Designation
Minimum 3 years working experience in the industry or a similar role
Experience with complex ERP systems and FIFO inventory costing method in a manufacturing environment preferred
Must be a hands-on performer who can both create accounting and financial information and evaluate that information critically
Demonstrated experience reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing working papers
Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization
Able to self-manage, understand priorities, and demonstrate initiative
Proven track record working within teams to find solutions
Understand benchmarks and KPIs in their use to analyze financial results
Advanced proficiency of MS Excel
