Our client, an engineering-based land and real estate developer specializing in the design and construction of townhomes, apartment-style condominiums, commercial developments and single-family homes is currently looking for a Contract Controller to join their team.
The Contract Controller will be responsible for managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining internal controls, as well as the preparation of financial statements and reporting to senior management. The Contract Controller will also assist with the budgeting process and support the CFO with any special projects or ad hoc reporting. The position is part-time and will provide the ideal candidate with considerable flexibility to determine their work schedule.
Key responsibilities:
Oversight of all accounting operations including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting, providing advice and guidance on all accounting matters;
Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements as well as company policies and procedures;
Assist with the budgeting process and make enhancements where needed;
Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual operating results for each operation;
Prepare year-end working papers and work with the external auditors as required;
Provide strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making;
Key requirements:
A university degree in accounting;
Must possess a Canadian CPA designation;
Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience;
Proficiency with MS office, Excel, and QuickBooks.
