Description

Reporting to Project Manager, the Construction Lead Hand performs tasks to assist the Project Manager in the hands on execution of the project plan, provides direction and assignment of tasks to other Construction Workers. The work is physically demanding and performed outdoors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
    Lead crew of 3-4 Construction Workers.
    Short term planning of labour, equipment & materials coordinated with the Project Manager.
    Manage materials on job sites & assist in coordinating material deliveries.
    Provide leadership to assigned shift by performing duties such as assignment of tasks, troubleshooting problems/issues, demonstrating procedures, motivating crew, etc.
    General labour tasks including operating equipment, digging/shovelling, moving/carrying materials, assembly of structural steel equipment used in the house lifting, etc.
    Promote and ensure a safety culture by providing education and enforcing safe work practices, Company policies and procedures.
    Demonstrate leadership skills by mentoring & coaching new employees.
Job Qualifications:
    Experience lifting/moving houses is an asset.
    Experience forming & pouring concrete is an asset.
    Experience with the installation of Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) is an asset.
    Experience in operating lifting & hoisting equipment is an asset.
    Valid & clean drivers license.
    Training in First Aid, WHMIS, CSTS.
    Ability to utilize hand & power tools.
    Strong communication & interpersonal skills.
    Ability to lead a team and motivate workers.
    Ability to exercise sound judgment & common sense.
Physical/Travel/Attendance Requirements:
    Environmental Conditions: On site, field environment & subject to all weather and site conditions.
    Some travel required (possibly overnight) depending on the project.
    Timely & consistent attendance required.
