Description

The Community Mentor reports directly to the Supportive Independent Living Plan (SILP) Manager.Please note this is a Permanent Full Time position. This is a community based position responsible for educating clients in learning and maintaining independent living skills in accordance with their Person Centered Plan.

Hours of work:  Hours of work are flexible, some early evenings and weekends are required.

Required Qualifications:
-Clear current Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search to be provided at time of interview and upon request
-Able to work independently, make sound judgments and possess effective coping skills
-Able to build rapport and positive relationships with a broad population of clients
-Able to allow clients to learn by supporting dignity
-Knowledge and practical understanding of support practices for individuals with intellectual disabilities
-Adaptable and able to recognize clients' changing support needs
-Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and crisis management skills
-Able to use a computer efficiently
-Disability Support Worker Certificate, BA or BSW degree or related education or equivalent training/experience
-Experience developing programs for individuals with disabilities that support/foster independence
-Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's License
-Reliable transportation
