Job Description: The Community Mental Health Nurse - Child and Youth Services, Mental Health and Addictions Team is an integral member of Intake Services, serving as a liaison between Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Child and Youth Services Intake. The nurse is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team providing triage, comprehensive assessment, including suicide risk assessment, crisis interventions and short term intensive case management to those clients referred for services from physicians to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Responsibilities include triaging referrals and linking to Child and Youth Services. Other duties include intensive case management, medication management, crisis intervention, counselling, goal planning, consultation to community agencies, group/community education, student mentoring, documentation, client/family and public education, advocacy, and mental health promotion.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS) or Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Current CPR and PART certification
Experience
Five years recent experience in community mental health or relevant setting required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced communication skills
Advanced time management skills
Proven working knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act
Ability and flexibility in adapting to changing situations and environments.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate efforts with other multidisciplinary team members as well as communicate effe
