The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) protects consumer interests and supports economic well-being through responsive financial and consumer marketplace regulation. FCAA currently has an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional who can fulfill the crucial joint roles of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Deputy Director for the FCAAs Consumer Credit Division.
As CFO, you will report to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of the FCAA. Your responsibilities will include carrying out the annual budget process, monthly fiscal forecasting, preparing annual financial statements and working with an external auditor. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining internal control systems to safeguard public money, and creating accurate financial information.
As Deputy Director of the Consumer Credit Division, you will be responsible for regulating a portfolio of licensees pursuant to credit union, mortgage brokerage, trust and loan, and payday lender legislation. These regulatory activities will include: determining risk profiles of assigned institutions, carrying out risk-based audits which assess the effectiveness of risk management and governance processes, and ensuring an institutions compliance with legislation and other regulatory requirements. You will communicate concerns and deficiencies, follow-up to ensure concerns are resolved, and recommend and implement regulatory actions as needed. You will also be involved in developing and implementing new legislation and regulatory policy.
Candidates must bring the successful experience and breadth of knowledge necessary to succeed in this opportunity. We are looking for a leader with a degree in business administration or commerce. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent designation is required. An alternative combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
