Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Social Programs, or his/her designate, the Supported Independent Living Program (SILP)  Caseworker will assist in case management, the service delivery of the Supported Independent Living Program.

Duties:
Assist in providing life skills development, including:
Promote positive independent problem solving and decision making skills

Assist in case management and support for youth in the program, including:
Intensive case management
Provide stabilization crisis support
Provide incidental problem solving and emotional support to youth
Provide information and life skills support to youth related to personal, family, housing, healing, safety, work, school, income, etc.
Provide emergency, incidental behavior management (non-violent crisis intervention)

In addition:
Role model positive behavior and encourage, and assist youth to practice self-help and non-violent problem solving skills daily
Ability to provide effective and accurate written documentation (ex: case management notes, incident reports, etc.)
Maintain confidentiality
Perform other related duties as assigned/needed

Qualifications:
1-2 years experience doing outreach work with high risk youth
Experience in intensive case management
First Aid and CPR
Suicide Intervention training
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
Food Safety training
Valid drivers license
Clean Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check
Knowledge:
An understanding and commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of JHS
Familiarity with the problems and characteristics of disadvantaged persons
Experience working with the LGBTQ community
Skills:
Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships with youth, other staff, clients, businesses, government representative, etc.
Demonstrated skills in providing supervision to youth
