Description

The David Aplin Group, one of Canadas 50 Best Managed Companies has partnered up with a Saskatoon-based National organization to recruit an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller supports many aspects of accounting management including assisting in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and with the preparation of financial statements. They are responsible for the financial transactions of the company and monitoring cash flow.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) Management

  Monitor collections weekly with direct reports in compliance with established processes and procedures.
  Review and revise AR processes as required.
  Code invoices with applicable General Ledger account and manages corresponding account budgets.
  Complete weekly AR and AP reporting updates for management.
  Manage Sales Tax compliance for all entities.
  Approve credit amounts for all new and existing clients.

Cash Flow

  Complete bank reconciliations.
  Manage cash flow daily for banks in all entities.
  Manage relationships with banks in all entities.
  Investigate Foreign Exchange contracts to optimize cash flow management.

Month End

  Manage month end deadlines and communication to all staff.
  Prepare month end balance sheet supporting documentation for all entities.
  Prepare and maintain detailed schedules for supporting balance sheet items, such as Capital Assets, Prepaids, Payroll, and Long-term debt.
  Prepare intercompany reconciliations.
  Prepare relevant Journal Entries for month-end for approval, as required.

Competencies

  Possess strong leadership skills and abilities including effective communication, honesty, empathy, creativity, responsibility, and flexibility.
  Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate work accordingly.
  3-5 years of related experience.
  Accounting Degree.
