The Saskatoon Society for the Protection of Children (SSPC) strives to provide preventative support to families who are at-risk of losing custody of their children. We work from a family centred, harm reduction perspective that prioritizes the parent/child relationship and recognizes the impact of historic trauma on families.
Parent Aide Program is an in-home support program for families who are struggling to overcome barriers to their success. We seek to support parents through family-centred service and advocacy in order to reduce family breakup. We are currently seeking two full time Parent Aides for 3-6 month term positions, with the possibility of extension. Parent Aides are responsible for providing education, guidance, coaching and skill development to parents through regular home visits.
The successful candidates will have experience and knowledge in child development, non-physical discipline, harm reduction and trauma informed care. These positions require exceptional communication skills, and demonstrated ability in case documentation and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Social Work; or minimum of 2 years post-secondary education;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Competency in computer skills;
Familiarity with systemic barriers faced by vulnerable families;
Knowledge of and belief in harm reduction philosophies;
Knowledge of positive parenting theory;
Frontline experience working with vulnerable families or children
The successful candidate will have availability Monday Friday; 8am to 6 pm and have the use of a vehicle. Criminal Record Check, vulnerable sector is required.
Wage scale begins at $17.30 dependent on education and experience.
