Responsibilities
Oversees total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
Monitors project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, safety and environment and quality control.
Interfaces with project team, client representative, consultants and subcontractors.
Conducts site tours, safety inspections and leads by example to ensure policies, procedures and standards are adhered to.
Mentors, coaches, supervises and assesses performance of direct reports and other team members.
Oversees project closeout.
Assists in negotiation of claims/disputes with the owner and sub trades.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience on medium to large civil projects, with preference towards alternate delivery projects (design-build, P3)
Knowledge of civil construction means and methods, including; earthworks, aggregates, paving, water/wastewater.
Strong decision making skills.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of different construction methods, sequencing, potential problems and timelines.
Familiar with all PCL project management and estimating software programs.
Knowledge of relevant construction law and building codes.
Ability to establish a good working relationship with many different people, including owners, other managers, consultants, supervisors, and trades people.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to solve problems related to construction, sequencing and staffing.
Ability to identify risk on construction projects.
Ability to understand and employ engineering/construction principles to construction challenges.
Knowledge of different construction methods and sequencing.
Working knowledge of project management software.
