** Please note this is for the 2019 honey season, Mid June - Mid Oct**
Responsibilities include:
-cleaning, building and repairing bee keeping equipment
-supering hives
-harvesting, extracting and packaging honey
-feeding bees
-assisting in the testing and treatment of hives for disease
-preparing hives for winter
-some days work is outdoors and some days work is indoors
The applicant:
-must be able to stack and lift heavy boxes and work in summer heat
-must be able to work with power tools
-must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays
-must be able to work 6 days/week and typically 8am-8pm. Some early mornings or late evenings may be required when moving hives.
-must have some experience working with honey bees
-must not have an allergy to honey bee stings.
Completion Bonuses may be paid upon completion of contract.
Production Bonuses may be paid dependent on the size of the honey crop.
Note: Because of the seasonality of farm work, Saskatchewan labour law does not mandate overtime pay on farms
