Position Type: Permanent
Hours of Work: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Start Date: December 7, 2018
Duties: The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant performs some or all of the following duties:
Prepare materials needed for each session for students with communication disorders and delays
Administering speech-language screening protocols, as directed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
Rehearse activities provided by the SLP with the students
Provide remedial therapy to students with speech and language disorders
Other duties as listed in the job posting.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a two (2) year certificate in speech-language pathologist technician or speech-language pathologist assistant from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Board of Education is required
A valid drivers licence is required
Ability to do carry heavy loads up to 25 kgs is required
A working knowledge of computers is required
Note: A minimum of six (6) months as a school-based speech assistant with satisfactory participation in all ongoing training offered by the speech language pathologist (S.L.P.) may be considered in lieu of certification
Wage & Benefits:In accordance with the current CUPE Local 5512 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Currently, this is a range of $18.11 to $21.54 per hour.
