Description

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Judicial Programs, or her designate, the Crime Prevention Facilitator will deliver crime prevention programming targeted at elementary school children.

Duties:
Development, implementation, and evaluation of a Crime Prevention program targeted at elementary school aged children, grades 4-8.
Deliver a program that is aimed at reducing the likelihood of elementary school children becoming involved in criminal activity.
Deliver a program to children that provides information about the impact of criminal behaviors on other students and the community.
Maintain confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:
An understanding and commitment to the vision, mission, and core values of the John Howard Society.
Some familiarity with the problems and characteristics of disadvantaged person.
Knowledge of Youth Criminal Justice Act and other relevant legislation.
Knowledge of the principles, values and processes of restorative justice.  

Skills:
Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills.
Ability to maintain a positive and productive working relationship with others.
Proven ability to work independently.
Ability to promote partnerships with key stakeholders and network effectively.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in education/justice/social work or other relevant degree in the human services sector
Compliance with the designated Risk Management policies of the National John Howard Society
Valid drivers license
Clean Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check  
Travel required.
