Description

The Lands Manager is responsible for the development implementation and administration of the Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nations land management regime. The Manager will oversee the implementation of the Nations reserve land and environment program including the administration of interests in land and natural resources consistent with the Land and other related agreements. The Manager will also advise Council on the development and administration of the Nations laws and policies relating to lands and resources. With the responsibility of land administration, land use applications, and planning the Lands manager will develop and maintain the Nations lands records.

Required Qualifications:

Level 1 post-secondary training Professional Lands Management Certification (PLMC) or willing to take the training AND five (5) years of direct work experience as a professional lands manager with significant knowledge in land management
OR
Level 2 post-secondary training Professional Lands Management Certification (PLMC) AND three (3) years of direct work experience as a professional lands manager with significant knowledge in land management
OR
Graduate of a recognized Land program preferred or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

Other Requirements:
Understanding and knowledge of Indigenous rights
Knowledge of legal land descriptions, mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, motivated, confident
Excellent computer skills with the capacity to promptly learn new computer software programs relevant to the proper management of the department
Excellent networking and interpersonal skills to interact with leadership, committees, senior government officials, management staff and members of the community and public
Excellent knowledge of traditional knowledge, land use planning and strategic planning
Valid Provincial Class 5 drivers licence
