This is a part-time temporary position (equivalent at 20 hours / week), with a potential for extension dependent on funding. The anticipated start date will be January 7th 2019.
UR Pride Centre is piloting a short-term, crisis counselling and mental health project for 2SLGBTQIAP+ people. This position will be responsible for providing assessment and therapeutic services to individuals and families working within a short-term, solution-focused framework. This position will also be responsible for determining an intake process, and the evaluation of the project with support from the Executive Director. Finally, this position will also be responsible for developing a workshop to help improve competency of mental health practitioners in working with gender and sexually diverse people.
QUALIFICATIONS / ASSETS:
Masters of Social Work or Masters of Arts (Psychology);
Significant experience in working with 2SLGBTQIAP+ people and communities;
Knowledge of the current issues relating to Gender and Sexually Diverse individuals and communities;
A member in good standing with a professional governing body (or capacity to become a member);
Clinical experience in the counselling field;
Demonstrated knowledge and professional practice skills in frontline services including case management, counselling or clinical services, and/or brief service/crisis intervention;
Extensive knowledge of anti-oppressive practice;
Organizational skills;
Able to work with a team and alone; and
Knowledge of Google Products and Microsoft Office Suite.
