Westmoreland Coal Company, Canada currently has a position available for a permanent, full-time, Process Control Technician at the Estevan Mine. Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, this position is responsible for monitoring the plants DCS and PLC systems and required work to support equipment and facilities in use at the mine.
Responsibilities include a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:
* Ensures the accuracy & reliability of Distributed Control System (DCS) platforms to maintain a high level of operation safety for plant processes.
* Maintains existing DCS systems hardware & software. Analyzes hardware health & faults using available diagnostics tools & equipment supplier support & provides guidance to the company maintenance personnel for repair.
* Manage the coordination with other departments & vendors for all ongoing DCS related projects
* Participates in the planning process of new equipment & concepts for plant automation systems including DCS, information systems & other subsystems by providing technical input & advice.
* Reviews & updates DCS related documentation, maintenance records, software backups, P&IDs, loop drawings & alarm rationalization database.
* Provides technical support to process, major projects
* Works with operations on all operational issues
Education and Experience
* University degree in Engineering /or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology /or Instrumentation Engineering Technology.
* This position also requires 3 to 6 years experience in a plant or any related industry.
* Membership with the Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists &/or Technicians (SASTT) as either a Certified Technician (CET) or Applied Science Technologist (A. Sc. T) is required.
* 3+ years DeltaV experience is an asset, but candidates with less experience who demonstrate a strong initiative and a desire to learn will be considered
