Description

CLSI is now accepting applications for an Operator Lead position as a member of our Machine Division. Reporting to the Accelerator Operations and Development Manager, the Operator Lead is responsible for the effective leadership, support, and coordination of their direct reports ensuring that the accelerator is operating within the conditions of the CLS license and performing routine operational tasks related to beam delivery.

Responsibilities:
- Develops procedures for start-up, maintenance and operation of accelerator systems and associated beamlines to deliver beam safely, reliably and timely to scheduled experiments, in consultation with accelerator physicists, beamline scientists, and engineers.
- Advises accelerator physicists and engineers on the performance and strategic plans for the maintenance, operations, and upgrades of the accelerator systems.
- Initiates and leads projects related to improving the operations of the accelerator systems, coordinating with accelerator physicists and engineers to continuously improve performance.
- Monitors work progress regarding meeting objectives and timelines. Works with the appropriate parties to plan accelerator operations parameters or the correction of specific problems, as required.
- Assigns work, oversees productivity and quality of work, and assists with troubleshooting problems.
- Prepares reports for AOD Manager to provide updates on projects, related work and key performance indicators pertaining to AOD.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor degree in Physics or Engineering is required.
- A minimum of ten (10) years in accelerator or similar high-tech or scientific facility operations.
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in a lead or supervisory role is required.
- Requires theoretical and conceptual knowledge in a specialized field, using expertise to help guide the work of skilled technical staff.
