Academic Coach / Math Catalyst
Summary:
MFNCS requires an Academic Coach / Math Catalyst to commence as soon as possible.
0.5 - Academic Coaching is a working partnership that focuses on the process of learning. Together with a professional coach, students examine their learning styles, habits of working, and current difficulties or barriers to success. Then together, the coach and student work to create and put in place more effective strategies than are the norm. The aim is to heighten awareness of what it takes to achieve academic success and anchor this with new strategies, a supportive relationship, and personal accountability.
0.5 - Math Catalyst position will work with Prek to Grade 9 classroom teachers and students in an effort to increase numeracy levels.
Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor of Education Degree and/or equivalent degree.
Experience teaching various student levels is preferred.
Positive professional/personal attributes.
Problem solving skills. Knowledge of Jump Math would be an asset.
Flexibility in the work day is necessary to perform the required duties and responsibilities.
This position is based on annual averaging of hours.
Access to a private vehicle is required and submission of a Drivers Abstract.
Knowledge and understanding of First Nation Communities and their culture.
