Competencies:
1) Undergraduate degree (masters degree preferred) with understanding of planning and research concepts and methodologies, data collection and analysis, statistical methods, evaluation processes, sampling techniques and methods and principles of compiling, interpreting, and presenting qualitative and quantitative data.
2) Knowledge of police practices, operations, and organizational priorities.
3) Strong critical thinking skills and a high degree of independent judgement and decision-making.
4) Highly developed and demonstrated analytical, research, and problem solving skills.
5) Excellent organizational skills including the ability to balance numerous tasks and projects.
6) Proficient using Word, PowerPoint, Adobe and, publishing tools.
7) Knowledge of police data sources and data availability.
8) Skilled in detailed and methodical work having superior analytical abilities including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel analytical functions and knowledge of, or the ability to learn the use of statistical software, mapping software, and databases.
9) Strong verbal communication skills, presentation skills, and a demonstrated ability to write concise documents providing clear and comprehensive explanations.
10) Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external individuals and groups and use research findings to design and implement innovative strategies, programs, and practices.
11) Maintains high levels of professionalism and confidentiality.
